Definitions of technology Lingo
Technology changes quickly and keep with it or at least understand the gadgets is to understand the terminology accompanies them. Some of the terms described below, you're used to seeing, but do you know what they mean?
1. Bits, Bytes, megabytes, and more – memory, we know when we see it is less than 1 GB to 4 GB We also know that most computers published today 2010, accompanied by at least 4 GB of memory. But what is a Gigabyte? Let's start with the smallest component of the memory bit. The bits are grouped so that 8 bits equals one byte. Then, equal to 1024 bytes kilobyte (KB). 2. Pixels – We see pixels measured in the quality measures of resolution camera or the screen resolution on our computers. Pixels are tiny dots or elements that compose an image. The word "pixel" comes from a combination of the words "picture element". 3. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows "personal area networking '- connect up to 100m between the units. Bluetooth uses a radio transmission short wavelength from fixed and mobile devices. It can help you synchronize or connect to multiple devices. There are three categories of Bluetooth Class 1 extends to about 100 meters, Class 2 is 10 meters and Class 3 of a meter. There are also different versions that quantify the amount of information that can be transferred. You'll find Bluetooth on your mobile phone, handsfree headset, mice, keyboards and printers, GPS receivers and others.
4. – HDTV Systems HDTV refer to video which has a much higher resolution than traditional television systems or SDTV. HD has one or two million pixels per image, which is about five times that of standard television. With superior image quality, viewers enjoy sharper images and brighter colors. Early HDTV used analogue techniques, but HDTV is digitally broadcast today.
5. Dolby Digital ® 5.1 – Dolby Digital provides five channels bandwidth, front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right, for true surround sound quality. A low-frequency effect (LFE) is included that provides the sound needed for special effects and action sequences in movies. The LFE channel is one tenth of the bandwidth of other channels and is sometimes erroneously called the subwoofer channel. This multi-channel system is known as 5.1 channel.
