Hewlett-Packard recently took the lead as the number one PC maker in the world, finally exceed their rival, Dell. With the changing marketplace, many new computers from HP, and a much needed refresh to their laptop line. Heat and Noise:
The dv9000t has a little power under the hood, but you'd never be able to say how it treats. The fans rarely come alone during heavy game I notice them, and even then they can barely be heard. The notebook is very quiet, nothing to bother your classmates during a conference. The only time I ever felt the notebook get even mildly warm was after a long gaming session FEAR After a little stress on all components used during the game, it was still very comfortable to have on my lap.
Keyboard and touchpad:
The dv9000 is one of the few laptops on the market to offer full-size keyboard with numeric keypad. The keypad is a welcome addition, but rarely seen in the mobile world. The keys are all very sensitive and provide a satisfying clicky noise when typing. The only complaint I have is that the right shift key is scrunched due to constraints in the mounting pad. This is not a big complaint for me, however, as it is fairly easy to adapt to the smaller key team, and there is more than just a compromise for the numeric keypad is included.
The touchpad, on the other hand does not receive much praise from me. He is average at best. I almost always use a mouse external, but when I use the touchpad, I do not look forward to. It follows fairly well, but is made of a strange material that is difficult to slide your finger over a standard touchpad. The mouse buttons below it are great though, and I would not trade this for anything. The touchpad is aligned under the main part of the keyboard, so it is out of the center of the laptop at all. The reason is, however, so it is the center of the place where you type. The coolest feature on the touchpad, and I really like is the ability to turn on / off. Not more accidentally brushing the touchpad, causing you to type in the wrong place.
Wireless:
The Pavilion dv9000t has two options for wireless. Both come with Intel (R) PRO / Wireless 3945ABG card, but there is Bluetooth and the other is not. I chose option with Bluetooth so I can connect with my phone and PDA. The map provides a strong link with any remote network near me. I can pick up signals from neighbors 2-3 houses away from me. Battery:

Operating System and Software:
The operating system I chose for my system was Windows Media Center Edition. In essence, it is Windows Home with more multimedia options. I do not need pro and all the data on ERM are very neat, especially for a media fanatic like me. There is a recovery partition which is on your main hard drive for any recovery woes. At the first startup, it asks you to burn this partition onto CD / DVDs. I opted for discs recovery, but just in case. The system was loaded with Bloatware when I received it, and among programs in Bountiful, none of them have been helpful for me to buy cheap title = "HP Pavilion dv8000 battery in the United Kingdom"> HP Pavilion dv8000 battery. After cleaning all unwanted programs and clean my registry, however, I had a near clean installation.
Guest Support:
I have not had the need to test customer service of HP, and I hope I will never have any (knock on wood). There are many options for warranties however, and I heard from others that HP is one of the best companies out there in terms of support customer.
Conclusion:
The dv9000 is a desktop replacement machine dream with enough power and functionality for almost any user. It is certainly one of the best buys on the market for money, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a 17 "laptop.
