Why Go Bluetooth?
The Bluetooth mouse is the culmination of all the best qualities of a variety of different mouse devices. At first, mouse devices started out with large, unwieldy serial type connectors. Next they evolved to PS/2 connectors then finally on to USB style connectors. The new generation devices now communicate with computers through radio frequencies; no wires are necessary. The radio frequency (RF) devices often use USB ports for the wireless connection. There is a transmitter in the mouse devices that sends radio signals to the USB connector which then communicates with the computer and tells it what to do. The USB receivers have gotten smaller and smaller and now there is a way to use these wireless devices without taking up a USB port.
Bluetooth devices communicate on radio frequencies, much like other RF devices. The Bluetooth devices transmit a 2.4 GHz signal through a technique known as frequency hopping. The frequency hopping allows the individual devices to avoid interference from other Wi-Fi devices. Rather than having a USB receiver, the latest generation of Bluetooth devices communicate directly with the computers. Many laptops and notebooks are Bluetooth enabled to allow the use of wireless devices.
Using Bluetooth devices can save you time and headache of having to keep track of a USB receiver. Also, Bluetooth devices generally have a much larger range, up to 30 feet, where a wireless mouse with a USB receiver has a range of about 15 feet. Bluetooth Mouse: What to Look For
Choosing a wireless mouse can be overwhelming. There are so many types, manufacturers, shapes and sizes. We used several different categories to rate a selection of mouse devices. Design
In this section we take the actual product and look at the specifications. We measure length, width, height and weight. We also record the battery size required along with how often you’ll need to change the batteries. We also discuss the optical resolution of the mouse devices and some of the basic shape and size features.
Features
While all the products we reviewed move the cursor around your computer, there are some more intricate features offered. Some devices have four-way scrolling; you can use the scroll bar to move up, down, left and right. We also review some of the features that are specific to each mouse. We include other minor details such as what type of carrying case is included and which systems are compatible with the different mouse devices.

In this section we take a look at some of the customer service options and warranties offered by the different manufacturers.
Computer technologies are constantly changing and this holds very true with mouse devices. The Bluetooth mouse is the way of the future. It is how all mouse devices will communicate with computers. Using these devices is quick and easy; there are no extra cables and no small parts to lose.
