Making Custom Designed Gourmet Cakes Delicious and Appealing
Custom designed gourmet cakes are creative, sinfully delicious and quite a sweet indulgence. These are beautiful works of art designed for different occasions or events. Possible designs are endless. The flavors, fillings, frostings, toppers and textural works or structures all make delicious and beautiful customized gourmet cakes
Cakes are sweet desserts we all love. It is basically made of flour, sugar, eggs, yeast and flavorings. There are many different kinds of cakes seen in bakeries and other restaurants now. Recently, there was introduced the idea of designing your own cakes to make it more personalized.
Custom designed gourmet cakes are handcrafted multidimensional edible artworks. These cakes compliment any occasion like weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, along with baby showers, bridal showers and other special events. Customized gourmet cakes are attuned with the recipient’s interests and characteristics.
Gourmet cakes are easy to customize. It all starts with the basics of baking a cake. Choose a flavor to start things off. Common flavors are almond, banana walnut, carrot, chocolate or vanilla.
Add fillings if desired. These are placed inside a cake for added flavor. It can be fresh fruits, creams, mousses, jams or frostings. Children will love strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, peaches or chocolate bits in every bite of their cake.
Most chefs and bakers make different combinations, matching the flavors and theme designs. It can also be a personal preference of a customer. Nothing is impossible when your cake seems very satisfying and delicious inside and out.
The size of the cake depends on the event, type and the number of people who would share. As a general guide, a half-sheet cake in a single tier is good for 50 guests. A 10-inch square cake in a single tier can be shared among 35 guests. A 12-inch square cake in a single tier is okay for 40 guests. A 10-inch round cake in a single tier is enough for 24 guests. And a 12-inch round cake in a single tier is good for 30 guests.
The height can range from 2 to 4 inches, followed by many layers and fillings. The piece size of the cake can be 1 ½ to 2 inches wide. Cake sizes can be 10 to 14 inches round, or square to multi-dimensional sculptured sizes. Cake designs can be very simple, elegant or attractive with its whimsical designs.
Cake toppers have either edible or non-edible model characters or miniature designs placed on top of the gourmet cake. The creative artist places these on top of the cake to showcase the depth and beauty of the cake.
The cakes are more presentable with additional decorations like embellishments, edible glitters, pearl shimmer dusts, gum paste flowers (sugar dough), fresh flowers, and hand painted texts.
The good thing about customizing your own cake is it expresses individuality. If given as a present, it is more appreciated just thinking about the effort exerted to it. And the designs you can come up with are boundless. It is all up to your imagination.
For ideas, you can look into magazines. It is also good to think about the event or the personality of the recipient to make sure that the gourmet cake will suit the occasion perfectly. In addition, customizing a cake is also a good way to entice children to try baking. It makes them feel important that their help is needed.
