How to Install a fork – Read everything you need in 9 easy steps

This is a small guide how you can install a new fork, mountain bike or simply delete the old one. Follow these steps and you will receive your new fork installed easily.

• (1) Remove the cap from the upper valve. You do not need to remove your bars.
• (2) Slide your rod up the backbone of your fork. Take care of your derailleur cables and brakes. You can set them free. Make sure that your fork will not drop while you drag your rod up fork.
• (3) Now drag it onto the fork. Do not forget to pick up all the washers and there could remember their order and orientation.
• (4) The next step will be a little tricky. You must remove the lower race of the crown of your helmet. To do this, you can use a tool design, called crown race remover, or you can use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer. Care and patience are your friends.

Congratulations! You removed your old fork. Now to install your new fork, because you can not ride your bike without a fork.

• (5) You can cut the steering tube of the fork with new pipe cutter. Measure the length of the steerer old. The new hub can be a little more when you cut. It is better to cut too much because in this case, you must buy a new fork and it would be the worst case.
• (6) Install crown race as you removed your old fork to your new fork. Slide the crown race down the tube toward your new fork and tapping it gently. You can use a hammer but then again you have to be careful.
• (7) You have to install a star nut in your tube new direction. Simply screw a bolt in your star nut and use a hammer to hit about 3 inches into the head tube. Remember not to unscrew the bolt.
• (8) You are now ready to slip back into the fork of the bike. Reinstall the helmet the same way you have them removed. Place spacers learn more about it if your new fork is a little more than the old. Next, slide the rod into it.
• (9) Now screw the cap bolt and screw all the other bolts. Make sure the head of the movement. Hopefully there will be no lateral movement next. If there is a movement to dismantle it and try to install the headset again (repeat step (8) with more patience).
