Is The Samsung Ch@t B3410W Merely A Take-Off Of The Corbyplus Mobile Phone?
The Samsung Ch@t B3410W is, as expected by most mobile handset enthusiasts, an enhanced version of the Samsung B3410 CorbyPlus. The major improvement here is the addition of Wi-Fi.
Even Better Than the CorbyPlus
Apart from adding Wi-Fi, the Samsung Ch@t is also packed with more internal memory muscle than the CorbyPlus, from 1 to 2GB more. Everything is pretty much the same after that – a 2 megapixel camera, a QWERTY keypad, a 2.6-inch QVGA touchscreen display and a 3.5mm audio headset jack.
As its name implies, the Samsung Ch@t is a mobile phone dedicated to online messaging. For this purpose, Samsung has built in Social Networking Services (SNS) applications for Web 2.0 networks like MySpace, Twitter and Facebook into the phone. It hopes to target that certain percentage of mobile phone users that could benefit from using the QWERTY keyboard and the touchscreen interface.
Just One Out of Many
At this time, a wide selection of handsets are being marketed which include both keyboard and touchscreen features. Some examples of these are the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini PRO and the Sony Ericsson Vivaz PRO. These phones have side-sliding panels which exposes the keyboard. The keys are set comfortably apart from each other which makes typing a bit easier.
Some of the key components of the Samsung Ch@t features a 2 megapixel autofocus camera, A TouchWiz 3.0-powered display, an expansion slot to upgrade the phone’s memory to up to 16 GB, and a rechargeable 960 mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
Network and Connectivity
Many users find it important to have a phone with excellent network and connectivity capabilities. This is why nearly all the mobile handset being launched this year are bundled up with both 2G and 3G connectivity combinations. For lack of this feature, the Samsung Ch@t takes a step back.
The Samsung Ch@t only supports 2G because 3G is not included in its setup. It is designed for messaging and includes applications that support nearly all the Web 2.0 networks. The addition of 3G would have provided the user with a much heightened browsing experience. Seemingly, it was for the sake of affordability that Samsung has done away with 3G support.
Despite the absence of 3G, the inclusion of Wi-Fi proved to be a good move. Since accessing the internet using a mobile phone can lead to higher connection fees, a lot of users can take advantage of the Wi-Fi technology included in this mobile handset. By using the phone’s Wi-Fi capability, the user can access the internet at no cost at all. Fast data transfer is also one quality that many users seek in mobile handsets. Samsung Ch@t comes with Bluetooth® and USB which can transfer data to and from compatible devices.
A spokesperson for Samsung has recently reported that the Ch@t B3410W’s launch date and pricing has not yet been disclosed. It is a handsome and versatile model which a lot of mobile handset enthusiasts would like to purchase, that is, if Samsung pins on a fair price tag.
