Types of control systems
There are two types of control systems including:
1. open loop (feedback)
2. closed loop (no reaction)
Open loop
If a physical system, there is no automatic correction of the variation in its output, it is called a control system in open loop. It is in this type of system, the detection of real output and comparing this production (through feedback) to the desired entry does not occur. The system itself is unable to give the result desired and it can not take into account the disturbances. In these systems, changes in production can be corrected by changing the input manually.
They are building simple, stable and low cost. But it is inaccurate and unreliable. In addition, these systems do not account for disturbances external influence on production and they did not initiate corrective actions automatically.
Examples of open loop control:
1. Machine Automatic washing
2. Traffic signal
3. domestic heating (without detection, feedback and control)
Failure to return may be considered a CS feedback if it is under the supervision of a person. Although control systems in open loop have economic components are simple and they depend largely on human judgments. For example, consider a control system the house of the oven. The system must control the temperature in a room, keeping it constant. An open-loop system is generally a timer which instructs the system to light the oven for a while and then goes off. Accuracy can be realized that the system does not change on / off depending on ambient temperature, but not by the value preset time.
closed loop
A closed loop system is where production has an effect on the amount of input so as to maintain the desired output value.
A system becomes normal closed loop control by including a feedback. His return will automatically correct the change in output due to disturbances. Therefore control closed loop is known as an automatic control system.
Closed loop, the controlled variable (output) is detected at each moment time, comments and input from the desired result in an error signal. This error signal directs elements control in the system to make the necessary corrective measures such as the system output is obtained as desired.
The reviews take into account of the unrest and also remedies. These control systems are accurate, stable and less affected by noise. But these are complex and therefore expensive. They are also difficult to design for stability, oscillatory and answer comments back gain overall control system.
