The latest mobile phone scams
Mobile scams are rising and although the technology in this area rapidly changing crooks are always new ways to take advantage of unsuspecting victims. It was recently revealed as scams Cell phone cost the consumer on average five times more fraud PC. In this spirit, it became useful to know what methods are tech savvy fraudsters use to separate you from your hard earned money.
The M-Scam
One of the most common scams begins with a message congratulatory text to win a holiday or another prize it gives you instructions on how to receive your prize. All you have to do is call a number that usually begins with 0906. When you call the number you are actually charged a premium rate that goes straight to crooks. Unknowingly, you have a several minutes, listening to a long message and never receive your prize. It is a method widely used the Contemporary Arts and millions of these messages are sent every day.
Missed calls
As its name indicates this method starts with a missed call the victim back and request is redirected to a premium rate number, which takes you through some sort of message showing that you managed to win a prize. You then proceed to keep for a few minutes and receive an invoice payable at the end of your network provider.

In this case, you may be looking online for ringtones or wallpapers for your phone, you come across a site sign up for a subscription. So you're constantly bombarded with messages text that are charged anything at £ 2.00 a message. There are legitimate services that are not exorbitant, but you must be careful that you use.
The trick # 90
It begins with a company that calls you claiming to be an engineer phone. They will ask you to press # 90 or # 09 on your phone, then this gives them the ability to access your SIM card so they can bill for calls from your mobile phone.
Mobile scams are literally millions criminals. In a recent case, three men were only 5 years in prison because they established a company called Pixonyx Ltd, who provided the phone lines expensive international calls. They then collected the identities of customers and credit card details and set up hundreds of contracts and used mobile O2 phone lines to call premium rate numbers they had established through Pixonyx Ltd. Once their profits, they started in the fall when the handsets sold. In just four months O2 reported losses of over £ 2,000,000 of the scam. The three men were eventually were captured when the calls were found, they were later found guilty of conspiracy to defraud O2 and given five years in prison each.
As technology evolves crooks will always find new ways to steal money in a variety of inventive ways always be aware and tell your friends and family about these methods.
