Why Should I Buy Sound Panels?

The most common sound issue in an area is echo, reverberation and flutter. These issues can be extremely annoying and excessive noise can cause loss of hearing. Sound waves are a problem that can be reduced and/or eliminated in almost every situation.

There are many products on the market today available for acoustical sound control ranging from wall and ceiling mounted panels, curtain systems and 4′x8′ soundproofing sheets just to name a few. There are many aspects to consider when attempting to eliminate sound waves from your listening environment such as the general direction of sound flow, the shape and height of your room. You must also consider what type of wall, floor and ceiling surfaces (wood, sheetrock,etc.) that you have. The reason for this is that sound will “bounce” off of hard surfaces. If low sound waves are also an issue, you may need to use “bass-traps”. These are usually placed in corners where low (bass) sound waves are most common. Bass-traps can be dual purpose both deflecting and eliminating unpleasant, excessive noise. Location is very important for low, mid and high frequency panels.

Acoustical Sound Panels, or wall mounted sound panels, are designed to absorb mid and high frequency sound waves. The number and sizes of panels required to reduce and/or eliminate excessive noise from an area can greatly vary. A basic rule that many sound control professionals recommend is to start with 25% coverage of the area that needs treatment. This basic rule may not apply to every situation. Your area may require fewer or more panels. We recommend that you get the opinion of a sound control specialist in order to make the wisest purchase possible.

Before there is anything in a house (including curtains, or even carpet), you have probably noticed that there is more echo throughout each room. As you begin to move furniture into the house you may begin to notice that it does not echo as much. After everything is moved in, the curtains are installed and wall decorations are up, you may notice that the echo has been reduced to minimal or eliminated. What has happened? As you move things into the house, items such as fabric covered furniture, curtains, carpet, etc. items begin to absorb sound waves making a more pleasant listening environment. This is certainly a benefit from these items but in most cases they do not absorb enough sound to eliminate the sound issues at hand. That is why sound absorption systems were developed.

There are different styles of panels available on the market today that can satisfy most decorative preferences. While there are traditional, one color panels available (that can be mixed and match to look nice), they are also available in styles, shapes and covering that are built to be contemporary, sporty, themed or even look like exquisite art.
