Biography
The Kazoo Funk Orchestra formed in Scotland in late 2005 as a merry-pre-apocalyptic go-round group, featuring musicians, anti-poets, painters and dancers of the finger. Strengthening their songs in a studio project in the DIY producer Ray McCartney living room, the band exchanged influences and drew on different genres to create his eclectic mix tape.
In May 2006 the band released their debut 25-track album Midnight Finger Painter, in which 500 copies included a single finger painting created by fans and band members. The album featured the infectious indie ditty, Baby No Eyes Youé and track psychedelic folk-hop, Disco Disco Disco Theque.
The output of Midnight Finger Painter was followed by a few local gigs, then it was back in the studio for more recording sessions. Adventures in Fuzzy Felt Land, was released as an EP 13 titles in January 2007, featuring the b-soul stained, did you get that I sent you the ball and sexy pop song, Dirty Dinners.
In summer 2007, the group fills in a few cars and took on their first tour in the UK including a couple festival dates. In an explosion of balloons and confetti, they turned to each concert into a party inviting the crowd to join in the fun. And with standing room outside the tent at the Festival Solus wicker, the band secured the slot closure at the 2008 Festival wicker.
During the cold winter months of 2007-2008, the band in the studio and gave birth to this album Self Titled, their second full length album. The collection of songs that make up the 50-track album, including Robots in Your Eyes, Radio, battery and Carnival enchanting. Originally published in limited edition CD in July 2008, with a pencil in the spine and a coloring book that insertion and then released by Following the form of digital downloads.
The group then took their show on the road once again, stopping at various festivals and venues en route. And with the addition of six new members to the band, plus more balloons, confetti and foil than ever the live show has become an experience not to be missed.
Shortly after the group finished its tour, the BBC has invited them to Stornoway to record a live session for BBC RaPAL. The session was broadcast on BBC Alba in January 2009.
