Installing a wireless home network: A brief tutorial
For homes with more than one computer, it would be wise for
you set up a wireless network and share your broadband
Internet connection, and the scanner, printer, and
other computing device.
The wireless network, wireless fidelity ", or Wi-Fi, is
gain popularity these days because it is so darn
easy and very simple.
So for those who want to use Wi-Fi in their
houses, here's a short tutorial to guide you through the
process and answer some of the most frequently asked questions
questions. To configure your home network, you will need a
wireless router and wireless cards PCI.
1. Get the equipment you need.
A wireless router or Wi-Fi This allows you to share
your Internet connection. You will able to connect to
the net without using network cables.

2. Choose what you will implement the standard.
Wi-Fi has different standards that have evolved through
time. The most popular is 802.11b or "B for short, which
can carry data at 11 megabytes per second or mbps.
The Next Generation Wi-Fi is the "G" devices that can
transmit data at 54 Mbps. G standard is backward
compatible with Standard B.
3. Log in to your wireless router.
Make sure when you try to connect to your wireless network
router you must close all your devices. With
Ethernet cable, a hook to the LAN from another computer
or on the WAN port if you use an Ethernet port
the cable modem. Then use a second Ethernet
cable and secure the Ethernet adapter in the computer.
After that, plug the other end to one of
four the individual port Ethernet router. It is strongly
recommended you use port 1, the default port area.
Then plug the AC adapter to power your
router, then attach it to an electrical outlet. You can
use your computer immediately after configuring the
the settings of your router.
4. Install Wi-Fi cards on your PC or laptop.
Installing a Wi-Fi could involve opening the case
and installation a card inside your desktop. This can be very
complex so it is best to seek professional help
on it, especially if it's your first time.
For notebooks and even desktop computers, you can use a USB
Wi-Fi dongle instead of installing a wireless card
Wi-Fi dongle is a USB network adapter that plugs into
your laptop or PC to allow access to a LAN, or
peer-to-peer networking without requiring any wires.
5. Turn on your computer and surfing the waves.
Once you've installed your wireless router and network
cards you're on your way to surf anywhere where in your home.
This just goes to show that since the proliferation of
wireless fidelity, network was never the same
again and Internet connection within your household
now open to a wide range of virtual possibilities.
